[Users] Changing laptops.

I have just bought a new laptop. (My old one is giving me ominous
messages on boot-up, about possible hard drive problems.)

I have not yet set up claws-mail on my new machine.  I would like to
get it set up in such a way that it's properties and behaviour will be
identical to that on my old laptop.

I thought that perhaps I could do this by copying the ~/.claws-mail on
my old laptop, in its entirety, onto a USB stick, and then copying from
there onto my new laptop.

Will this work?  Should I do this before or after actually installing
claws-mail?

Any advice gratefully received.
