I can change the Theme appearance settings -- for example I can change
the green color band I described in #3 below. I can change the colors
of folder icons on the desktop. I can change the color of borders on
Application windows. 

But nothing I do resolves issues #1 and 2. I can't get back the
bold highlighting of new e-mails, the bold number of unread e-mails,
and the bolding of folder names containing new (unread) e-mails.
Changing the Theme appearance does not seem to make any difference on
those.
