Previously I have been able to either copy mails from/to folders within
Claws, or to do it external to Claws, in the file system.

With this new IMAP account, I created a new folder and then copied 106
emails to that folder, from the file system. About 5% of them have an 
incorrect "From" showing. Even the "Subject" is incorrect in a few. The
body/content seems okay. Was this because I copied the files external
to Claws and the imap cache got messed up ?

 If I go to do a folder tree" the msg is "Rebuilding the folder tree
 will remove local caches. Do you want to continue?"  Is that all that
 is required ?

These emails were from a Samsung email app, the 'Save messages'
function, so yes, they are .EML files. The headers are of the format:

SavedFromEmail: fred at example.com
Date: Mon, 28 Jun 2021 19:05:27 +1000
Subject: Hi from Wilma
Message-ID:
<somebiglongnumber.namprd06.prod.outlook.com>
Importance: high From: Wilma Rubble <wilma at bedrock.com>
