DM: Sure, no problem, Duke. 🙂️ The type of command you used works fine
for me for my understanding of what you want to do. Based on what
you've reported above, my guess is that you did not use the correct
path to the desired config dir (i.e. where you have './claws-dir-bak/'
in your command). So next step I would advise is confirming the full
path in your file-system to where the config dir is that you want to
use (and note that you don't want to have a '/' at the end of the path)
and then putting that into your command to see if it does what you want.

DM: If you're also wanting to test access to your emails / messages and
they're not showing up, then you may be able to 'fix' that by going (in
the menu) to 'File' -- 'Add mailbox' -- 'MH...' and then browsing to
the location where your messages are stored. (You may also need to do a
right-click on the top-level of your mailboxe(s) and choose 'Rebuild
folder tree'.) I haven't actually used this myself, since I've gotten
in the habit of manually editing the path(s) in the 'folderlist.xml'
file in the config dir if/when I need to point to a different location
for messages.

DM: Hope these additional thoughts are helpful. Cheers, ---Dustin
