This is the thread that will not die.

This round has been seen by some as an opportunity for antagonistic personal
statement directed at one C-M developer (me) and a general criticism of,
seemingly, all C-M developers ("Once in a while it's  good idea to believe
the user.").

And then the problem just evaporated into thin air and everything worked
again.

Obviously the change was on the server side, so your suggestion (complain to
google) would be beneficial to all.
