Yesssss!  That works!  I had tried the up and down arrows in
Configuration -> Edit accounts.  This changed the order in which the
accounts/mailboxes appeared in the associated pop-up menu, but had no
effect on the list of accounts in the "Folder" column.

I think I just ran into an unknown unknown. 😊️
