I am at a total loss and would be grateful for any suggestions as to what to try in order to track down and remedy the problem.

When I start claws-mail from the command line, I get a whole load of output:

(claws-mail:17035): Gtk-WARNING **: 15:07:23.100: Could not load a pixbuf from icon theme.
This may indicate that pixbuf loaders or the mime database could not be found.

Bail out! This doesn't mean a lot to me; can anyone guide me a bit?

I might add that I cannot get Thunderbird to work either; TB tells me "Unable to connect to your IMAP server. You may have exceeded the maximum number of connections to this server." (I have no idea how that could have occurred, it indeed it has.)

So I'm resorting to using the Outlook web app provided by the University of Auckland (which is my email service provider). I find Outlook difficult to deal with, but I guess I will manage to read your replies. Said he, hopefully.

cheers,

Rolf Turner
