The cause is that your browser was packaged as snap.  Snap comes with many problems.

Possible solutions :

- use a directory name without leading dot,

- use dillo (not packaged as snap),

- use a deb package of your browser, it exists for Firefox and I found a web page explaining how to do so that it updates automatically (really tricky, sorry I lost the link),

- use a Linux without snap like Fedora
anyway your Ubuntu is too old, 
upgrading to 20.04.01 makes little sense when 22.04 is current.
