I've just done this process.
Computer 1 worked fine
Computer 2 wouldn't authorise.

I had changed the receive and send settings for Gmail from Automatic to
OATH2 before I tried to get the authorisation on Computer 2.
Changing them back allowed the authorisation to proceed, then I set
them back to OAUTH2 and it still works.
