Not only do you need 'Authenticate before POP connection' checked, but you
also need to select "OAuth2" from the 'Authentication method' dropdown.

'Authenticate with POP before sending' is not needed.

But what is needed from that page is 'SMTP authentication' and "OAUTH2"
selected as the 'Authentication Method'.
