Do you have IMAP turned on under settings on gmail.com?

Go to Gmail.com

Settings

See all settings

Forwarding Pop / IMAP tab

and at the bottom enable IMAP:

I have mine set up this way....

tick Enable IMAP

I have Auto Expunge off

Move Messages to the trash ticked

Do not limit IMAP folders ticked

hit Save at the bottom.

And try to connect again with Claws.
