Complementary to the suggestion provided by Paul you may:

+ close claws-mail
+ open clawsker, tab «gui»
+ decide if you need coloured stripes altogether/in list views, or opt
  for a reduction of their contrast (e.g., 2000 instead of 4000)
+ close clawsker, work again with claws-mail
