I try to understand, but it seems the problems are (also?) on a different
level.

When I activate the Emacs window (Shift-Ctrl-x) while composing a
message Emacs takes over the window. I can type, arrow and function
keys work, but control, alt (meta) and hyper keys do not. Some
sequences activate something in Claws. For example Ctrl-i invokes
Message > Insert File (even though the menu itself is greyed out).

So what is needed is not just eliminate a few shortcuts, but a way to
pass *all* keys transparently to the editor window.

Can this be done?
