I just built it from source and installed it next to my other perl
versions, and I do *not* see this failure.

Do you use the system perl? If so, on what distribution?

How was that perl built?

$ perl -v
This is perl 5, version 36, subversion 0 (v5.36.0) built for x86_64-linux-thread-multi-quadmath

$ perl -V:config_args
config_args='-Duse64bitall -Dusequadmath -Dusethreads -Duseithreads -Duseshrplib -Uversiononly -Dinc_version_list=none -des';

I am on openSUSE Leap 15.3 here, building CM from git
