And I'm telling that you that it isn't.

Obviously there's something in your system that is wrong. It all points to
your backup, or rather how you restored your backup.

Make sure all of your claws-mail files are owned by your user and are
writeable by your user.

That is, check the permissions.

The debug output will possibly give a clearer picture of what is happening
than your descriptions.
