It can also be a setting of each separate mailing list, configured by 
the mailing list administrator, and only overridden when a poster has 
the Reply To parameter set in the person's email application 
configuration, so that all email sent out by the person, has the 
messages set to Reply to the person's set Reply To email address (which 
may be different to the email address from which the message is sent).
