Bug ID: 4580
Summary: Impossible to *really* delete emails in gmail IMAP
Product: Claws Mail (GTK 2)
Version: 3.18.0
Hardware: PC
OS: Windows 7
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: Folders/IMAP
Assignee: users at lists.claws-mail.org
Reporter: 20172017201oo7201720172017 at emailsensei.com
Steps:
send a mail to yourself with 'Options/request return receipt'
Problem 1[specially if there are no other mails in inbox]: click on IMAP inbox
shows nothing [if before you click on Sylpheed's IMAP inbox, it sometimes
shows there, but then doesn't anymore after clicking on Claws' IMAP inbox].
Problem 2: So, since it is not in IMAP inbox , you click on 'All mail' folder
; 'select all' [or click on the email] so it triggers the sending of the
return receipt [without asking, bad issue but we want that for this
experiment].
1 click on 'Sent' folder and delete the now 2 emails
2 click on 'All mail' folder and delete the now 2 emails
3 click on 'Trash' folder [1] and delete the now 2 emails . The 2 emails
appear greyed out in 'All mail' folder . Go to 2...endless loop.
Partial solution: Get mail using POP, then on IMAP 'Trash' folder [the 2nd]
delete all , then Go to 2... repeat some times and if you are lucky email 1
may delete, but email 2 [the return receipt] is impossible to delete in
Claws IMAP,endless loop.
Annoyng but working solution [without having to go to webmail]:
in Sylpheed click back and forth between IMAP's 'Trash' folder [2] and 'All
mail' folder and after max 3 times the 2 emails greyed out in 'All mail' folder
finally dissapear.
in Claws i tried the same many many times to no avail, it's like the same
function has more force on Sylpheed, in Claws works but never deletes 'for
ever' , it ping pongs between any of the 'Trash' folders [1 or 2] and 'All
mail' folder endlessly.
I tried in Claws: '/View/Update summary', 'Rebuild folder tree', 'Check for
new messages' and 'Check for new folders', in various folders to no result ,
and on webmail with both the IMAP options default 'auto' [after delete keep an
archive ], or 'delete for ever', both work the same.
I'm moving to Linux, [happens there?] but not yet, so for now in Win7 this is
maddening.
Thx
