[Users] Lousy fonts when printing

CM 3.18.0 on opensuse leap 15.3

When I print a plain text email, the fonts look terrible, it's such a
"low-density" that it's almost like a dot-matrix from the old days.

In preferences > display > fonts > different font for printing, I
have selected: Roboto 14 (which is installed on my system).

Any other setting that I can change/set to get regular print?

BTW, it's almost a new toner cartridge (less than 500 pages) on an HP
BW laser printer.
