[Users] aol / verizon email with claws-mail client

I've been using claws-mail for many years now, with verizon mail and then
aol mail after it changed ownership, with no issues.

I recently got notifications from AOL though, that said

"AOL Mail will no longer support third-party applications (such as third-
party email, calendar, or contact applications that weren't developed by
AOL) using outdated sign-in methods. We’ve noticed you might be using
one, so we need you to make some changes before December 1, 2021."

They provide some information on how to proceed for various popular email
clients, but of course nothing for claws-mail. For instance

https://help.aol.com/articles/allow-apps-that-use-less-secure-sign-
in#gmail

In most cases they say we need to remove the existing account and
configure it again, hoping that the client will pick up the new settings.

Does anyone know whether claws-mail is actually compatible with AOL's new
security requirements and if so, how do I configure it? I suspect it's
about Oauth2.

Thanks!
