[Users] GData plugin blocked by Google: Is there a fix for this?

Hi ML members again,

I understand, there as a ticket at Github for this in April 2020, seems like there was a possible solution for this later this year. My Mint desktop comes with a plugin version 3.16.0. Should this work or is there anything I could get around this in any other way?
