This is what I did:

git clone https://git.claws-mail.org/readonly/claws.git 
tar zvf claws-mail-3.99.0.tar.gz claws --exclude=.git

Then, using the Fedora 'mock' build system:

%setup -q -n claws
echo echo 3.99.0 > ./version
./autogen.sh
... configure, make, ...

There is no version file in git, so I need to create it myself.
