I'm probably out of my depth here, and if I'm missing the point then
just ignore me, but have you looked at
Configuration -> Preferences for current account -> Compose ->
Spell check dictionaries
???
I have mine set to en_AU.
I don't see any "fi" amongst the dictionary options, but, so I'm
probably misunderstanding your problem.
