At least Ubuntu and Arch Linux are affected by the
`!xcb_xlib_threads_sequence_lost' issue, too.
A guess of a Lubuntu maintainer and me was, that it is related to GTK2,
since it were GTK2 apps that crashed regarding this issue. Those
programs don't crash, when using the GTK3 builds. However, 3 days ago
gparted crashed on my Arch install, with
`!xcb_xlib_threads_sequence_lost'. Actually gparted is a GTK3 program.
However, some GTK3 apps are rock-solid. FWIW Ubuntu 16.04 isn't
affected. That's one of the reasons to me, to not upgrade to another
Ubuntu release. Building Claws on that old Ubuntu LTS release works
without an issue.

$ lsb_release -d; dpkg -l claws-mail-git | grep ii
Description:	Ubuntu 16.04.7 LTS
ii  claws-mail-git 3.17.8-1     amd64        A GTK+ based e-mail client - git checkout

Unfortunately Arch Linux is more important for my daily computer usage.
In my experiences Evolution, a GTK3 MUA, is rock-solid on Arch Linux.

YMMV!
