Ok - sorry for my sarcasm. It is of course totally possible that you are right.
However, I am not convinced that this is not something that can't be fixed in
ClawsMail.

I wish to investigate. Therefore I have installed clawsmail from git and
compiled it. I do not want to install it however.

I did run it from the source tree.

Afterwards when I opened my real mail I got popups saying that the version of
config file(s) of ClawsMail were newer than version of the running ClawsMail
client and this is not recommended.

How can I avoid this? How can I run ClawsMail as developer without messing up
my local installation?
