Ok, sounds like it may have been something in the configuration; (backed up
and) wiped the claws-mail configuration (whole folder tree) and reinstalled
claws, recreated the accounts and the issue didn't show anymore; it may have
been due to some screwed setting so I think that the issue may be marked as
closed
