I have the same version of X, same version of libxcb, same graphics driver,
but different distro and no crash.

Why do you use the wrapper script? Claws Mail checks itself if another
instance is running. What do you gain from this, and have you considered
bypassing your wrapper script altogether and just starting claws-mail as
normal?
