I'm afraid there's not much we can do regarding the badly laid out text.
LiteHTML is not nearly as advanced as Webkit when it comes to (over)complicated
HTML layouts, so you cannot expect pixel-perfect HTML rendering comparable to
mainstream browsers (which have team of dozens of people working on the HTML
engine).

You can try extracting the html part from the e-mail to a separate file and
viewing it in Litebrowser[1], and if it displays incorrectly there as well,
reporting it to the author of LiteHTML on github[2].

As for the crash and the weird blue color, if you could provide the example
email - as an attachment here, or forwarded as attachment to ticho at
claws-mail.org, I can have a look and hopefully fix at least the crash.
