What version of claws-mail are you running? What operating system are
you using? (might help) You should include more information because
that'll help others when they try to answer your queries.

I would make a dummy account somewhere and test it, maybe your
mailserver has some issues? Does this happen with other mailservers
too? Did you try using other account?

Check if Claws Mail is in offline mode, click on file (top bar) and
look for offline mode. If there is a tick mark beside offline mode then
click on it to disable offline mode.
