BTW git clone gives me the following speeds for these:

500-800 KiB/s:
git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/stable/linux-stable.git

~20-30 KiB/s (similar to Claws):
git://gcc.gnu.org/git/gcc.git

What does this say?
