[Users] How do i get only one line in message list in order to see more messages in the pane ?

Why is this preference hidden?  It seems very useful, to expose more
messages in the vertical view.

While I'm asking about hidden preferences, is there any setting that
would make next_on_delete always move DOWN the message list?  At the
moment, behaviour seems to differ on whether the sort order is ascending
or descending.

And just in case: is there any hidden way to load multiple selected
messages into the message view pane? I'm currently using python-scripts
to load them into a GTK window when I press s or c (different versions
of the view)... but that doesn't mark them as read (which has good and
bad sides), and I can't fold quotes by double-clicking.
