In ~/claws-mail/addrbook/ you should have a file called

addrbook--index.xml

If you don't have it, create it.

For connecting your address book folder it should look like this:

<addressbook>
  <book_list>
    <book name="Common Address" file="addrbook-1.xml" />
  </book_list>
</addressbook>

Be sure to edit it or create when claws-mail is not running.
