The tags don't appear in the raw message text. Claws does have Tag
display logic, so it's reasonable that there could be a problem with
that code. It might be something you wouldn't know about if you are not
the maintainer for claws-mail on Fedora, even though you are the main
developer.

Furthermore, it's 12 different email providers using two different
protocols. The common denominator is claws, not anything else.

Of course this is not conclusive, but given these facts it suggests
claws is involved with this issue.
