I have found the cause for the problem. The problem is that the window size is
static meaning it keeps the same size regardless of the size of the containing
widgets content so if the font size for the label at the top increases then the
widget - hbox, which contains the label takes more and more space from the
window leaving lessor space for the rest of the widgets. At some point the only
thing the rest of the widgets can do to responds for more space from the label
is to collapse the buttons. To fix this it seems that something must be done to
gtkut_window_new.
