The steps are:

1. rm -rf ~/.claws-mail
2. The STR from the OP - you won't see a connection to the YAHOO account
3. Add some pre or post filtering rule. Example:

[preglobal]
enabled rulename "testrule" unread color 1

4. Restart CM - you will see a connection to the YAHOO account
