Sounds like user error to me.

Is your 'Sent' folder really an 'outbox' folder? (Right-click the folder and
choose Properties, on the General tab does it say 'Folder Type: Outbox'?)

Otherwise, check your account settings. See the 'Advanced' page. Have you
specified 'Send' for the 'Put deleted messages in' option?
