There is confusion over this thread. I don't think this is the same
thing. What Colin fixed was the brief view of the previously viewed
html message part when opening the next the html message part. Rodney
said 'html email has stopped working', and Colin's fix did not fix
that.

It is far more likely to be the bug caused by a broken
shared-mime-info package, as stated by Andrej, and reported long ago
here:
