[Users] Claws backup script problems

Hi,

I am using Claws on Mint 18.1 Serena and writing a backup script for
Claws. It has raised a couple of questions which I cannot find the
answers to:

 1. Is there any way I can shutdown Claws gracefully from within my
 script? Killing it while it is fetching mail does not seem a good idea!

 2. Apart from ~/Mail are there any other directories that I need to
 backup?
