The only thing that is happening is that your distribution is dropping
the webkitgtk library, nobody can prevent you from having it on your
system.

You can compile older webkitgtk yourself, keep it e.g. in /usr/local,
and do the same with claws-mail (although preferably newer, not older in
this case).
