It's caused because of gpg-agent running as daemon and pinentry/claws
is not configured to use it.
I use the low road as I do not want to use agent
#ps aux |grep gpg-agent
#kill -9 (proc # given for gpg-agent)
Now you will get your normal pinentry dialogue box asking for pass
phrase.
