The status line reads "Opening folder", "Scanning folder" or "Fetching Message"
and nothing happens for quite a while (50 seconds the last time I counted).

I experience the same behaviour with different accounts (all IMAP). The
frequency is maybe 1 out of 20 to 30 actions.
