Some anecdote to tell: There are users, who ignore a new dist release for
months, in hope that any issues get ironed out first. Then they upgrade
without prior evaluation and run into issues. Nobody else has noticed any
such issues, nobody has reported them either. A few months lost for the
affected user and the makers of the dist. Taking an early look at new
releases can be beneficial.

At the Fedora Project, the updates-testing repo is not the bleeding edge.
It's not supposed to carry stuff that breaks installations badly. And for
the occasional bug one may fine (perhaps regression in the upstream release),
in most cases it is not difficult to replace faulty updates again.
