The code to do this does not exist in Claws Mail. So it must be
something else.

It's always easy to tell what version you are using. For
example, /Help/About, or the main window title, or `claws-mail
--version` to name three methods. Anyway, in your case:

X-Mailer: Claws Mail 3.13.2 (GTK+ 2.24.30; x86_64-unknown-linux-gnu)

What distro is that 'rolling distro' that you use?
