I believe that the "@" icon view includes the first message part --
which, with multi-part messages, is generally the text part. Is that
not your case, hence explicitly selecting the text part?

I agree that even with "Display headers in message view" set you
don't seem to get the visible headers if you select other than the
"@-part view".
