Because Claws doesn't require much dependencies it's easy to build on
nearly each release model distro. Why don't you want to compile
it/build your own package? I not only build it for Arch, but also for
Ubuntu. However, most likely you could install Claws from Debian testing
without any issue since the version from sid requires
"dep: libdbus-glib-1-2 (>= 0.78)" -
https://packages.debian.org/sid/claws-mail
while even squeeze already provides
"libdbus-glib-1-2 (0.88-2.1+squeeze1)" -
https://packages.debian.org/squeeze/libdbus-glib-1-2
I don't understand why installing Claws from the sid repos should
require dbus from sid. FWIW maybe you should send a request to the user
mailing list of your distro ;) or simply switch to a distro that
provides what you need, if you dislike to build Claws yourself.
