You need to dig into the preferences..

Configuration/Preferences/Message View/Text Options/HTML messages

Check: Render HTML-only messages with plugin if possible
and possibly check:
Select the HTML part of multipart/alternative messages

See also per-folder properties, in where you can force this behaviour
or another, for the selected folder only.
