[Users] [Bug 3630] Ubuntu PPA very much out of date

First of all, many thanks to those who responded to my post.

I have to say that Ralf's instructions look comprehensive but (for this 
user) seem rather complex. Is there any chance, please, of a more 
detailed step-by-step set of instructions? There are users (often 
refugees from MS Windows) who have not the confidence to build things 
for themselves and who would welcome that extra helping hand.

And what are the chances of an updated ppa? That would make more 
detailed instructions a little less urgent.
