JFTR $HOME usually is

~

aka

/home/your_user_directory

As the $PREFIX that not necessarily is /usr or /usr/local, $HOME not
necessarily is a directory in /home, but that are the most used default
places. However, the advantage of using the locations in the /usr path
over using the /home path is, that themes located in /usr are shared,
available for all users.
