Some list archives are available by Gmane, but Claws seemingly isn't.
Gmane provides a search engine, if the list archive doesn't provide a
search engine, you need to use an Internet search engine, usually
engines like https://startpage.com/ or https://duckduckgo.com/ work, but
for claws mail it seems to be better to use Google and even with Google
search terms that provide good results are hard to find, e.g.

  claws pipermail "open source software"

lead to a few hits, but not to this thread.
