ok that's a case. But isn't that just a rare condition, and wouldn't it be fair to, instead bother some people with weird 'reply to' triggers, to just subscribe with that other address too ? i.e. if the MUA refuses to follow that policy, you still have that option which anyway looks like a clean solution.
