Perhaps the OP should backup the MH mailbox and then cp -i to trash.
By the Claws GUI moving the mails from trash to any other folder should
be without a risk. 

cp -pri Claw´s_MH_folder/ Claw´s_MH_folder.backup
cp -pi the_OP´s.claws-mail/imapcache MH_folder/trash/
